Idea of Project
The idea of the project started with the use of tires. We knew we wanted to use tires in some way in our project, we just weren't sure what we were going to do with them. We started looking around on the internet to come up with some ideas of what we could do with tires, in a way of reducing, reusing, and recycling them. Came across the idea of making a corn hole game with them. Once we knew that's what we were going to do, we had to think about what machines we were going to use down in the shop to help us. We would use the router to cut out the circles that would go in the middle of the tires to serve as the board to shoot through. The 3-D printer to create stakes that would stick into the ground to serve as a little prop to give the board a little angle to shoot at. The vinyl cutter to put some color and smoothness to the wood after that was cut out. We all had our little jobs to get everything done in time. We all pretty must helped with everything but had our specialty that we did just little bit more than the others.
My Parts
We ended up breaking up the parts mostly where we did one thing mainly. I was put in charge of doing the vinyl. I created the decal on illustrator and then took it down to the vinyl cutter. The wood had to be smooth in order to stick the vinyl onto the wood. For that I had to take all the wood into the wood shop and sand them down. It wasn't hard to do that. It went really easy. Once I got the wood sanded down I was able to stick the vinyl to the wood and hurry the process up.
Summary
The whole point of the project was to reduce, reuse, and recycle old things that we had laying around. We went to a tire place and they gave us six tires that we could take off of there hands. Used old wood that was laying around. Used old jeans to create the bags. The rest of the stuff was found in the shop such as the router, 3-D printer, vinyl cutter, and wood cutting. I believe we succeed in doing what the point of the project was and had fun doing it.
